Activity Groups

Our many activity groups are at the heart of the club, offering members the chance to connect through shared interests. From social outings to hobbies and special interests, these groups meet regularly and evolve with members' enthusiasm. Members are always encouraged to start new groups, making our offerings dynamic and ever-growing. Review our monthly calendar to see what is happening this month.

Adventure Gals

The pure definition of Adventure is “an experience that involves exploration, excitement, or uncertainty, often taking someone outside their usual routine or comfort zone. It typically includes an element of risk, challenge, or discovery, whether physical, emotional, or intellectual".

A group of women who want to connect with other women who are physically active through responsible and safe outdoor activities and adventures. We will strive to provide a supportive and inclusive community where we can all have fun, try something new, or explore new personal challenges.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (GJWHF)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Club is all about building friendships and having fun! We enjoy an activity every month in and around our community, usually on the third Thursday of each month. Past excursions have included museums and restaurants in Sacramento, a party barge on Lake Englebright, axe-throwing in Auburn, a pool party, Off Broad Street Theatre, and Curious Forge Art classes. We also enjoy an out-of-town getaway each year in the summer. We meet quarterly for an “early bird” dinner at a variety of local restaurants. We welcome new members.

Lunch Bunch

How the Lunch Bunch works. An email is sent to everyone on the roster a week before they meet, letting them know the chosen restaurant for the month. At the current lunch, the group is asked which restaurant they would like to meet at next month.

Our goal is to build deeper, long-lasting friendships.

Short Walkers

Enjoy walks that offer a chance for connection while enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Nevada County. The group will explore local trails that are no longer than 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. Some walks will have hills, but none will be overly strenuous. All are welcome to suggest trails they enjoy. Walks are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month, beginning at 10 AM.

Games

Games offer a great way to connect, share laughs, and relax. Whether you want the intellectual pursuit of Bridge, the challenge of Hand and Foot, or the quick pace of Bunco, there is a game for you. As a Member, you will have information about all the games that are currently active. Do you have a game that you would like to start? The Activity Director can help you get that going.

Garden Club

The Garden Club monthly events are driven by the interests of the members. We venture out to learn more about every possible earthly joy from plants to butterflies, gardening tips, water conservation, fire safety, community businesses, organics, birds, olive oil, and nurseries. Touring gardens is, of course, a favorite. Never-ending experiences await!

The members of the Garden Club have a variety of backgrounds and interests. Many members do not even have a garden. Everyone has an appreciation and curiosity for the world around them and most especially for the environment we live in. Join the Garden Club and expand your horizons.

Book Clubs

Joining a book club isn’t just about reading, it’s about connection, discovery, and shared experience. Each month, our book clubs dive into a thoughtfully chosen book that sparks conversation, invites new perspectives, and often surprises us in the best ways. Whether it’s a gripping novel, a moving memoir, or something outside your usual pick, you’ll find yourself inspired by both the story and the voices around the table.

Gatherings are relaxed, welcoming, and full of lively discussion—no pressure, no judgment, just genuine curiosity and camaraderie. You don’t need to be a literary expert—just someone who enjoys a good story and great company.

Cooking Groups

Our cooking groups are more than just a place to share recipes; they're spaces to connect, create, and savor the joy of cooking together. Whether you’re a seasoned home chef or simply love being in the kitchen, you’ll find inspiration in every gathering. We explore a variety of cuisines, exchange tips and techniques, and occasionally step outside our comfort zones to try something new.

Each meet-up is relaxed and welcoming, filled with laughter, collaboration, and, of course, delicious results. From themed dinners and potlucks to hands-on cooking sessions, there’s always something to look forward to—and always something wonderful to taste. No expertise required, just a love of food and a willingness to join in.
